P90X – Me and James are having a go at it. August 29, 2009

So today is only day 2 or our trial of P90x. From what I can tell we are going to be very sore. If the commercials are true we are going to be very taut. Taut like a tiger. Hahahaha. I hope. Anyhow – I will post updates and photos soon. I must now go soak in Epsom Salts. Which work by the way!

Jesus Music! April 12, 2009

Why am I just now learning about this new hip-hop phenomenon, called Jesus music?

I have no idea where I have been hiding I guess for the past three years, but, tonight I was just introduced to probably the coolest thing I have done in Panama City, and I have been here for six years.

Tonight I got to see an outpouring of sincerity, fun and participation from teens around the city, while they praised God – while listening to RAP music.

The coolest thing I have seen in a while.

Here is a video of the kids around me… we all danced for like three hours together, rapping about how awesome God is, and thanking him for dying for us and raising again like he said he would to wash away the things we have done so we can have a relationship with Him.

All of the artists were good, I was wicked impressed. I remember ten years ago when I craved something like this and there wasn’t much fresh out there – now these guys are awesome and they rap with some hot beats and really smart lyrics. If you crave what I crave, which is hot music that glorifies God, AND gets the blood flowing, then I would check out these bands we saw tonight:

Burning Bush (sorry it’s sideways for a sec, I forgot I wasn’t taking photos)

Lacrae

SMSouljah

Lil Royalty (13 years old)

S.A.L.T (PC locals)

Salted (Also run Hip Hop University)

These ladies and gentlemen are pretty awesome and all of their music glorifies God.

From what I heard, these bands will be out again this summer, including Lacrae. If I can I plan to be there!

At least that’s what it says on the t-shirt.  James finally got his riding lawnmower yesterday and he couldn’t be happier.  We spent about 5 hours working in the yard today – something I never imagined I would enjoy, but I did!  We got parts of it cleaned up, burned a whole bunch of dead trees, and even got me up a structure for my laundry line.  I am excited!

Me and James painted this together

Me and James painted this together

Me and James painted these love doves as we call them, right before we got married. The painting is about 3×3 and I finally framed it this week in a beautiful white frame and it is in the living room!

It is true about Toucans… March 4, 2009

Jenny, Scotty, Jessi, and Nana came down a few weeks ago. It was really awesome to see them all! Well, while they were here my boss had just told me that Toucans was up for auction soon because the owner had gotten into trouble.
The AP story reads below.
I suggest someone buy it! LOL.
(For those of you who don’t know, this is where we had our rehersal dinner)
MEXICO BEACH – Paul Francis might be headed to federal prison and his business, Toucan’s restaurant, is headed to the auction block.

Francis, 62, owner of the Mexico Beach landmark, was arrested in September and charged with felony gun possession and possessing methamphetamines with intent to distribute. In January, Francis pleaded guilty to tax fraud, possession of firearms by a convicted felon and simple possession of methamphetamine and currently faces a maximum penalty of 42 years in prison. He will be sentenced April 15.

According to the plea Francis is obligated to pay the government the taxes he owes and possibly a fine.

Roebuck Auction announced this week that it will sell the restaurant and two other adjacent gulf front properties that are all zoned tourist commercial. The auction is scheduled to take place at noon March 12, officials said in a news release.

The restaurant is located at 812 U.S. 98 on 165 feet of gulf front property, the release said.

The building has a total seating capacity of 550 patrons. Included with the sale is the Toucan’s name and logo, a fully transferable Bay County liquor license, Point Of Sale computer system and pagers, as well as all owned and leased equipment, the release said.

The entire building consists of the restaurant that encompasses two levels of dining, an 1,100-square-foot gift shop and a 2,200-square-foot private residence on the third level. Connected to the building is a 5,000- square-foot Tiki bar and pavilion with a band stage.

A complete property information package can be downloaded from the Roebuck Auctions’ Web site at RoebuckAuctions.com.

All three properties being sold are owned by different entities and will be sold separately.

Additional details can be found on Roebuck Auctions website, www.RoebuckAuctions.com, or by calling 850-654-6000.
